Power jack repair on the Acer TravelMate

The Acer TravelMate uses a round barrel charging socket soldered to the motherboard. We test your charger first, then repair the socket, its cable or the charging circuit on the motherboard, whichever has failed.

The charging socket is soldered straight to the motherboard on laptops of this age, so a loose or broken socket needs proper board-level work, not just a new cable.

What we do

We open the laptop, remove the damaged socket and fit a new one, repairing any lifted pads on the board. Where the socket is on a separate cable or small board, we replace that part instead.

We test with your own charger before handing the laptop back.
